ABOUT ME
Who Is Shauna Hicks?
Shauna worked in government for over 35 years primarily in libraries and archives including the State Library of Queensland, the John Oxley Library in Brisbane, the Queensland State Archives, the National Archives of Australia in Canberra and Public Record Office Victoria in Melbourne. She is currently Director of her own part time research and consultancy business.
Honours
Shauna was awarded the Order of Australia Medal (General Division) in the King’s Birthday Honours List, June 2024.
Qualifications
Currently a PhD candidate with Griffith University – The grass wasn’t always greener: immigrant struggles in colonial Queensland with a focus on Irish and Scots female immigrants

Professional Interests
Australian Society of Archivists – retired professional member. In 2007 Shauna was awarded a Distinguished Achievement Award for career achievements and services to the archival profession.

Family History Interests
Shauna has been tracing her own family history since 1977 and is a Fellow of the Queensland Family History Society. In 2009 Shauna received the Australasian Federation of Family History Organisations (AFFHO) Services to Family History Award for her achievements in Queensland, Canberra and Victoria.
