Seven things about myself – see my response to my Diary One Lovely Blog award. It was written close to Father’s Day so my mind was very much on my father who died of cancer 18 years ago and some of the good times we had together.

Nominate 15 bloggers you admire – previously I listed six bloggers so I am taking the opportunity to list a few more.

Genealogically Speaking by Caitlin Gow. In the lead up to National Family History Month 2013 a young Brisbane genealogist Caitlin Gow contacted me asking could she help. I have since been a Caitlin follower on Twitter, Facebook, Google+, YouTube and so on ever since. Not only does she remind me of myself not quite 40 years ago (I was 20 when I got the genealogy bug) but she has embraced all the you beaut technology of today to do all the things we could not even dream of back then.

Young & Savvy Genealogists is written by those under 30 and passionate about genealogy and Caitlin is a contributor to this blog too.

Queensland State Archives blog is another favorite blog. QSA is where my passion for archives developed and I first went to work there in 1982, left in 1990 and returned in 1994 before heading off to Canberra in 1999. It is really good to see how far the Archives has traveled over the last few decades and also to see that they have embraced new technology to let people know the wonders of the Archives.

State Library of Queensland, John Oxley Library blog is another great read for anyone with Queensland research. Back in the 80s and 90s in my working life I flitted between the Library and the Archives so it is interesting to read their blog and remember all the fantastic resources they had for Queensland history.

AFFHO Congress 2015 blog – congresses are held every three years in Australia and as we move closer to March 2015 there will be more blog posts highlighting why going to genealogy congresses should be a ‘must do’ on everyone’s list at least once. Great speakers, wide range of topics, exhibitors stalls and lots of opportunities to catch up with old geneafriends and to make new ones. A blog to definitely follow in the next six months!

I will finish this post as I did the Diary post. If you have not tried blogging your family stories, why not think about it. The new family contacts and new friends both in person and online have all made blogging a fantastic experience for me.
